In which areas do you mainly work, and what types of properties do you specialize in?
Gilles: I am particularly active in the Laurentians and Lanaudière regions—areas I’ve known very well for many years. Most of my mandates come from clients who want to sell their single-family home. Often, they also entrust me with the search for their next home, sometimes in a different part of the country.
Lise: As for me, I specialize in selling country homes! Whether my clients live in them year-round or just during vacation periods, they know they can trust me. I can assure you that water supply and sanitary installations hold absolutely no secrets for me!
How do you view the role of a real estate broker, and what advantages does a client gain by working with one?
Our role is to protect our clients during the most important financial transaction of their lives. We make sure every step of the process is properly handled. We are committed to always giving them accurate, honest information throughout the transaction. For clients who choose us to sell their property, we handle all aspects of the marketing— including visits, follow-up reports, and visibility on various websites and media outlets.
How do you build a relationship of trust with your clients?
Of course, we must answer all their questions and meet their expectations. Trust is built gradually through the answers and advice we provide. For example, during a purchase, we commit to finding a home that meets their needs while respecting their budget, enabling them to make an informed decision. At all times, the key is never to pressure them.
What important element is most often overlooked by clients?
Gilles: When a client buys or sells their property, it’s important to remind them that real estate is a long-term financial investment. Whether they are a buyer or a seller, they must always think about the eventual resale of their home. This is why choosing the right location and thinking carefully before renovating is crucial.
Lise: When a client wants to sell, they often forget that everything must be verifiable. It’s important to prepare a file containing the description of all work carried out, supported by invoices!
Tell us about a transaction that was special for you.
My clients had entrusted me with the mandate to sell their beautiful property worth over $400,000, which they loved, but I sensed they were hesitant to make the final decision to sell. This hesitation lasted until the day the husband lost his job while his wife was on maternity leave. They suddenly found themselves in an urgent situation. I immediately organized open houses, called interested buyers, boosted the advertising, and accepted all reasonable offers to help cover their financial obligations. Out of respect, I never disclosed their difficult financial situation to anyone. In the end, I managed to sell the property in record time!
Is there anything else we should know about you?
We treat every property sale or purchase as if it were our own. We make sure to give our valued clients all the information we have. Sooner or later, those same clients contact us again for future transactions or recommend us warmly to their loved ones. Our greatest satisfaction comes from a job well done.
